I need to buy a new PSU: Help!

My PSU seems to have died, which I knew was going to happen soon but I was hoping I'd have longer before it did. I went through a period of having to switch it off and on at the back before it would turn on at the front, but now it just won't boot at all.

So I need to replace it. I'm a bit lost at knowing what I need; i.e. how much power and what size. I was hoping for some help.

I'm fairly sure that this is the one I currently have: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/power_management/ocz_powerstream_power_supply

I can't work out how to tell which wattage mine is, and I don't have any of the paperwork for it with me because I'm at uni atm. It does say on the back, 'For 220Vac Only' if that helps.

My other hardware:

Asus A8N-Sli Deluxe Motherboard
AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core
Some kind of Geforce 512mb graphics card.
3GB RAM
2 HDDS: 75GB and 200GB
Creative X-Fi sound card

So basically, I need a good PSU that will power everything, will fit into the same size case as I already have and won't die so easily on me.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. I'm completely lost.

will be powerful enough yep

size of the corsair is: Dimensions ( W x H x D ) 150 x 86 x 150

the link above says: 175x150x86 mm

so looks like the corsair is smaller! but will do the job nicely

ive just fitted the hx 620W version and its a superb piece of kit!

edit, your OCZ has a 5 year warranty, maybe try contacting OCZ to see if you can get it swapped out?

Thanks for all the advice! Out of interest, would there be any benefit in my getting the 620W version instead of the 520W? The price increase is fairly minimal, so I'd do it if it was worth it?

I'm really not sure about trying to get it swapped. In my experience that sort of thing takes forever and I need to get my PC working again pretty quickly.

I think I'll avoid getting another OCZ for now.

theres a PSU calculator on the net where you can see how much power you really need from your devices attached to your pc. (here is is: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp)

more times then not, you will be very surprised at how low power you need

i think 520W will defo be enough for your rig

i chose 620w as i had the extra cash to burn and i intend on keeping my psu until it dies, so it should hopefully last me a few upgrades in years to come

always handy to have some extra power there incase you decide on getting 2 8800GTX gfx cards :p

no probs dude

modular is very nice, quality of the build is amazing

comes in a huge box, nice carry case for the cabling, tie wraps, and 5 years warranty, so keep hold of your receipt!

Corsair. Either the 520 or 620. As a rule of thumb - for most 'normal' builds then 520 is fine for 1 gfx card and the 620 would be best if you run double graphics cards in SLI mode or something.

okay, I just installed the new PSU and my computer lives again! Worked perfectly first time. Nothing as difficult as I expected.

Thanks again for all the help everyone, especially lmfy2k!
