I need to make a wiki for my website, I really have no idea what I am doing at all but I know the server is Linux so here I am.

What do you recommend? Simple is good.

mediawiki is the same script wikipedia use, i've set it up on my local webserver to play around with, is the better one of the 3 i tried (the other 2 being phpwiki and tikiwiki

I'm a teacher, and I've had 35 13 year olds using mediawiki without problems so it can't be that hard. They had about 10 mins of instructions while they logged on and then just jumped straight in. If they can then you can! :) (and setup was a simple upload and script jobby)

I've used MediaWiki in the past, it's nice and easy to setup. However we use JSPWiki at work for our documentation repository and I can't fault it, has some really nice javascript which throws open dynamic link tables as you're crafting your page, type-ahead that sort of thing.

Highly recommend evaluating the two before you deploy it.
