My ATI 1900 XT is begining to fail, the picture is corrupt like it's over heating.
I turned the fan up to max and that helped for a while then I cleaned out all the dust that also helped for a time. I even replaced the stock cooler which also fixed it for a while but the problem just seems to come back over a period of time.

I'm planning on replacing the PC in about Six months so just need something to keep me going, a friend who has the same setup as me home built couldn't run an an 8800 GTX as it didn't have enough power to boot correctly, I don't want to change the PSU.

So what I need is something as good as the 1900xt and won't use more power has anyone got any idea's, I would prefer ATI.

Depends how much you want to spend really. The x1900xt was quite power hungry iirc. If you have the funds I'd get a new HD4850 it will use the same if not less power and be much faster. If not pick up one of the last generation of ATI cards, either the 3850 or 3870.

Thanks for the replies, I did upgrade from an ATI X850XTpe to the 1900xt but the upgrade wasn't massive but I wouldn't want to go back to it,I think my CPU holds the 1900xt back (AMD64X2 4800+) so going to anything costly wouldn't be worth it either.

So about £60-£70 is all I'm prepared to fork out right now, I was tempted by this but don't know if it's as good as the 1900xt. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp... DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail (H365P512GNP)
I was thinking of turning it into a media centre when when the new PC comes along.

Until I can decide I think I'll try and stick an extra fan blowing across the card, I should have something somewhere.

I had the same issue with my X1900 and it turned out to be the new ATI drivers. Try some older ones and it might solve the problem.

I've been having this problem for a long time now even when using the drivers that came with it about 2yrs back.

I have put a fan blowing onto the card and it was much better today, not perfect but much better.

If it gets worse again and I'm sure it will I'll probably go for the 3870XT then.

Thanks for all the advice guys.
