I need to Upgrade Ram

I have an Asus A8V Deluxe and it already has 1GB (2x512) Ram in it. It's is Geil PC3200, but I don't know if it's value or Ultra X or different sort. It's got a silver casing and I got it around February of last year from this Overclockers place.

Now, I need to upgrade my Ram to 2GB for Half Life 2...I need another 2 x512 sticks, but I don't know if Value Ram or a different brand of Ram will work with my PC.

If I get a different brand of Ram, will that matter or not? I don't want to have to buy another 2GB of ram just an extra 1GB.

Here are some CPU-Z information about my memory.

*EDIT*

It's GL1GB3200DC

I guess OCUK don't stock this anymore?

You've got two options really:

1. Sell your 2x512mb and get 2x1GB

This is an elegant solution, with only two modules you can run at a 1T command rate (2-3% performance boost) and you can maintain 400Mhz with all CPUs

2. Buy another 2x512mb

With 4x512mb you have to run at a 2T command rate (limitation of the A64 mem controller) and your memory will default to 333Mhz (Newcastle, Winchester cores) or the normal 400mhz with newer cores (Venice, San Diego).

This incurs a slight perfomance hit due to the 2T timings, and on older cores your memory drops to 333mhz which is another performance hit, though you can try clocking this back to 400mhz, usually works fine.

So can I convince you to go 2x1GB? Or are you going to just want another 2x512mb?
