Well sadly my trusty I5 2500k is having random not switching issues and some black screens in whilst playing games. It is 6 years old though

My current spec is

I5 2500k @ stock speed now
coolermaster evo cooler with mx2 paste on it
Gigabyte mainboard (not sure what it is but it was an ocuk oc Bundle)
4gb kingston grey ram
2 samsung evo 250gb ssds
MSI GTX 970
superflower 650w psu

so here is my dilema...

whats the real world difference with getting the i5 7600k over the i5 7500
gpu wise is it worth changing my gtx970 for a gtx 1060?

The board and cooler hasnt been looked at yet so I need advice.

many thanks in advance

kev

main difference for the 7600k over the 7500 is the ability to overclock the 7600K with the right motherboard.

if your upgrading the cpu/mobo i'd stick with the 970 and see how it performs in the games you run.

as for your explanation it might be me misreading it but what does " random not switching issues" mean, is it a case of its powering down etc ?

check out gpu-z and coretemp just to check that your temps look ok on your cpu and gfx card.

as for other recommendations, what sort of budget are you looking at working with for an upgrade.

I am having some random not switching on.... silly me missed a word! cpu temps are low at idle and gaming & tabbing out its 50 to 60c so not overheating.
