'sup.
In much need of some help:
I need the cheapest most convenient/sustainable way of commuting to London (from Lichfield, Staffs) so around 140ish miles. Twice a week.
I was considering trains. Turns out, public transport is unaffordable or realistic. So the idea is to commute down, park car (free parking sorted), and get the tube in.
I'm thinking oil burner, VW passats, etc spring to mind. I know the Mondeo is a forum favourite, but I've a bad experience with past Fords so would like to stay clear.
It's got to be cheap to maintain, cheap to run overall, I'm trying to look at the bigger picture, so things like, is it likely to sustain a constant 300 mile a week trips for year-on-end with minimum maintenance/cost... Things like that.
Budget, from the lowest to around 6/7k. Plan is to get this for the commute, and something fun for the weekend so this thing can literally be a brick on wheels. I don't care, as long as when I arrive, I'm safe, calm, and have all 10 fingers and 10 toes - I've seen what these French cars can do!
Would really appreciate your help ladies and gents. And if that's not enough of an incentive, well... erm. ****.
Cheers.
