I/O Device error in vista HELP

Just plugged in my second H/D 120GB Seagate IDE.
I can pull my old files off it o.k but when I go to put a file on I get the above error. Sometimes I can put small files on though.
Any know how to fix this?

Then your stuffed I had to buy myself a hard drive conroller card to byass the onboard sata ports.

I installed vista onto my spare drive and tried the onboard sata ports and it errored every time, with the i/o error, plugged it into the contoller and its fine.
