Don't do this unless you're predisposed to sadism. The couple of hours of shrill buzzing as it tries and fails to get out, becoming more and more intermittent over time as it exhausts itself, is not a sound to relax to. Eventually it will become to exhausted to even make brief rattling noises and begin to die properly and then you have a dead fly being slowly digested over the rest of the week in your room.
