Call me a conspiracy theorist, paranoid, whatever

But i have little doubt in my mind that Rockstar had to make the decision of bringing down the quality of the PS3's version of GTA4 in order for it to be equal/comparable to the 360 version.

It would be bad business and bad relations with M$ to allow the PS3 version to be significantly better than the other, especially after the massive paycheck for DLC.

Unfortunately its one of those things they would never talk about/admit, or at least for a long time

You are a Paranoid, Conspiracy Theorist.

They would've had to spend longer making the graphics better, so even if you do believe the graphics on the ps3 could have been better I doubt it would have been cost effective.

So they spent months working on the PS3 version to make it worse?

THAT MAKES SENSE NOW.

Both games were on equal terms, Then the 6 month delay was to drop the PS3 version in quality by a few steps.

I mean come on, You don't think the money that came from MS was just for extra content do you?

No, They were paying for sabotage

Smart...really, they shouldn't have bothered with that inspector morse when we have you around

im not afraid to make statements, unlike most people on here, i didnt expect this thread to be received lightly

but take a moment and think about it, IF they knew they could have made the PS3 version run significantly better, would they make it so?

IF they could have made it better they would have. I think you've lost the plot if you think they'd sabotage their own game. :o:p

I expect that rockstar got them about the same level, which they are pretty much and that was fine, there would be no advantage for Rockstar to spend more time getting the PS3 version to look better than the 360 version, and delay both until ready. The 360 version had massive framerate problems on most of the previews i heard/read so it wasn't a case of getting just the PS3 version upto scratch both versions were not ready for release and was delayed more so for the PS3. Rockstar had the 360 dev kits before the PS3 and also had experience working on a 360 game, table tennis so it would make sense they would struggle more to get the PS3 version up to scratch.

Lol, if anything it's the other way around.. I'd like the see the 360 version have the option to remove the blur-o-vision filter and see how it looked.

equal performance on both consoles = better sales overall

better performance on PS3 console = unhappy 360 owners

since we'll never know just well it could really run on the PS3, R* dont have to worry about anything

Do you want to buy a tinfoil hat?

how much? P&P included?

seriously, this isnt my life's work, its a small statement because i've got the balls to say it, im trying to invoke discussion on a pretty simple subject.

When you've got 2 main leaders of the console market, and 1 has a lesser specced machine with bigger market saturation, and you are about to do a simultaneous release of your biggest game. Do you think for 1 second that the marketing bosses didnt debate the impact of making 1 version better than the other?

maybe they could make the ps3 version better........but at what cost?
why should they have to spend so much more money improving the ps3 version... when it cost them enough just to get it on equal terms?

maybe sony should have thought a little about the developers and made their console a bit easier to programme for?

Oh give over, unless you believe the crap that comes out of the Sony hype machine neither machine is categorically "lesser specced" than the other, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Even if that argument did hold any water then the reverse would be true of last gen. The XBox might have got some shoddy ports from the PS2, but I don't think any were nerfed so as not to upset the Sony faithful.

Just what this forum needed, another GTA IV thread!

Seriously, just what is the point in going on and on about this over rated game, not to mention the constant carp about which console is best.

And the thought of one version being intentionally crippled is downright barmy, the PS3 version was worse because the console itself is more difficult to squeez the best of, just look at all the games that have appeared on both systems for proof, its very rare the PS3 is equal let alone better.

What in particular do you think was held back by the 360? It wouldn't be graphics and the physics seem to work the same on both, so are you talking about the size of the map being held back by not having enough storage space on a DVD9 and no HDD as standard?
