Pun filched from Brian, via RR. Pics from the Executioners' Spring Riot, at the Ace Cafe, Yesterday.

Just another perfect night at The Ace. Voice/legs/chest held out just long enough to get away, but even 283 cubes of Chevy's finest failed to keep me awake on the way home.

Dave's ElCamino, has just had a complete front/rear suspension rebuild with all new parts, front end's coming back apart again to have a couple of coils whacked out of it now it's all settled.

One of the nicest-proportioned Pops I've ever seen. Perfect stance and I adore those drilled front nerf-bars.

How We Were.....tonight was billed as 'T-Bucket Night', there weren't too many of them, but this one had me dreaming of reading CC in bed as a wee nipper.

It was at this point Dave, who was stood beside me said "I've been out ElCamino'd". Check it out. ;D

Certainly seemed a bit more low-key than previous Riots, which in the grand scheme of things is probably for the best. Certainly with a few exceptions there was just a fraction of the usual rubber-burning with most of it confined to the frayed tempers of those who couldn't get in and/or the local Wannabe Gangsta Jihad contingent. ::)

Great company, great cars, great music, great food, great time (and I even managed a couple of pints of Stella without a cigarette ;D )

That Landy is a bit special...Built to get around/mock the 'pre-49' rules placed by certain hot rod clubs.

It runs a TVR V8. ;)

Whats the rule, and why? No one can join unless their car is mosty older than 1949?
Not really a rule as such but it's generally accepted that hotrods are only pre-1949 body styles. Post 1949 they are Kustoms, muscle cars etc.

There's a few that cross over because Land Rovers and Beetles were made before '49 and it really annoys some hotrodders :D

Nice!

Certain places have a 'pre-49' rule.

Certain places with pre-49 rules consist of boring old nobbers with '32 fords in satin black with red wheels who hate everything else. They use the pre-49 rule to try and exclude anything which might annoy them.

So build a pre-49 Landy rod and roll deep :D

Mo' pics:

Bounced early as I was knackered, but I get the first set of pics up, booyah, or something.

It was nice to be down at the ace in something that can burble with the best of them, sweet turn out.

Enjoy:
