So after 3 years of playing it and falling short of dowing Brutallus, I've decided to close the curtains on this game and its social aspect that kept me glued to it for a long long time. I deleted all my chars (incase I got tempted) and cancelled my account. I'm almost fearing my gaming life after WoW. Is there anything else I missed in MMO's or normal RPG's that's worth digging into ?

Stop playing MMOs and go back to basics with some good old FPS full frontal violence with big machine guns and grenade launchers :D :p

Three years? Ouch. I played it for the month free trial and got bored of it! ;)

I just don't understand the appeal, other than the social side of it that you mention, as the game itself just seems so repetitive.

Well done for kicking it though. Go outside. Get some sun! ;)

I quit a month after BC came out, what a waste of money that was ruined my life completely! Virtual that is ;).

Playing Warhammer now and its much less addictive than World of Warcraft but who knows its just me and i have a much more better social life than when i was at school.

Frankly the only fun time I ever had in WoW was leveling to 60 will my guildmates and all the adventures before that. Sure I had a few glory moments, such as first Ragnaros kill and BWL but I realised I only stayed because of the people I knew in there and the fact that I had very little to do in my life overal at that time (basically a **** up with immigration back then that they left me in a situation where I wasn't allowed to work or continue my education after A-levels). I played for a month or two about 6 months after BC launch got to 70 and this time it wasn't even fun leveling since everyone in the guild was doing all the high level stuff so I left it there.

Still good on you, enjoy the freedom!

Burning Crusade ruined the game (for me, anyway), I went back to Counter Strike: Source for a while, then I discovered The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, never looked back.

While I agree Burning Crusade was a bit average I still like the game and Wrath of the Lich King looks fantastic and seems to be adding a lot to the game including a much wanted comeback of World PvP (The new PvP only area)

Only started playing again over the weekend and got my new Priest to 48, gonna get it to 60 Wednesday then go back up to 70. After that just gonna get gold and have some fun ready for the expansion. (Recruit-A-Friend levelling for the win ;))

Perfect time to make a new character due to the gear reset and all, I don't think now was the best time to quit I'd have personally sampled the expansion for a month or so, but good luck whatever the outcome. :p

I tried this game out and within a few hours found it boring. I had to go around killing the same creatures to level up. Boring....

I do see the appeal. For starters if you have a friend(s) then it makes it a lot more fun. But the parts where you have to keep killing creatures over and over. lol.

Started playing again last month with refer a friend, its taken me and my mate 2 and a half days to get to level 50, its great fun playing an hour here and an hour there, its taken us a month, but we are enjoying it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Anyone that ever raided high level content in WoW knows the teamwork that goes into it and the euphoria of a first kill. It is hard to walk away from that.

I ordered the Orange box and will get my teeth into TF2.
