Hi,

I am not a bit about computers and built my first one in January that has been running fine, apart from Bf2 which i have had many little problems with such as know it refuses to work with 4 x 1 GB ram, this could be due to that i installed it when i only had 2 x 1Gb?

Anyway i have an E7400 with Biostar P45 and 4 x 1gb of OCZ Platinum Revision 2 XTC 2GB 6400 along with tuniq tower.

I really want to overclock my CPU to a high level around 3.4 mark i hear is reasonable but just dont know where to start i have read the Stickies at top but still confused.

If someone could give step to step help would be fantastic?

http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=52288 here are some of my bios (these are old just more so you can say go on this tab and enter this into here etc) My ram volts are currently at 2.094 and NB at 1.34 and FSB is 1.41

Thanks

Thanks for the link but there is nothing there that is showing me how to start of the overclock that more what i dont understand like in the bios set up what bits am i changing

To start off to have to disable the speed step then what needs changing?

Thanks

I will tell you what frequencey is after It wont reboot thanks

I have upped it to 306 and just going to run prime 95 (so far not crashes) then i will up it again untill it wont boot.

It saif fatal error rouding was 0.5, expected less then 4

I ran with just 2 x 1GB of memory (memtest no errors) then ran prime 95 for just over an hour with 2 x 1GB and there was no error temps were 54 c max with fans set a medium and my antec door shut (that probably didn't help). Shall i try another 10Mhz?

4 x 1GB of ram has been causing me a lot of problems i think i am going to sell them and buy 2 x 2GB sometime

i am at 3423 Mhz and got that error above with 2 X 1 GB but i am gong to leave the 2 GB out as it give me problems in BF2 for some reason and i cant be bothered to reinstall it and that so i will purcahse some 2 x 2GB then sell of my 4 x 1GB of memory for hopefully £20-25.

Its an e7400 @ 2.8

Running tuniq tower

What shall i try now? good i try 10 multiplyer with 340 mhz? How much you reccomend i bump up the volts?

i looked on internet and 1.4/5 people said is the max you should go otherwise CPU will go very quickly lol.

There is no need to up voltage now is there as i am only running 2 x 1GB? The current multiplier is 10.5

running at 380.99 x 10 = 3809.89 Mhz with VID 1.2500

Got all 4 in see how it goes in prime95. Just 4 x 1Gb dont seem to want to work in Bf2

Just going to run for about 10 mins prime 95 now temps at idle 39c (but on core temp they are always 39 even when at stock :S) will update on temp in Prime after 30 mins thanks for help so far :)

I put my 4 x 1GB ram in so wanted to make sure it was stable so i am just going to run Prime 95 till about 9pm about 4 hours 30min then i will up it too 3.8 then 4.0.

Currently at 3.607 (10 x 360) with core V 1.248 but i think that could possibly go lower. Being running prime just about an hour now temps are Max 54 atm there mostly 50/52.

Looking pretty good atm. What would maxium healthy temp on prime?

Just on 3.7 GHZ @ 1.304 V

After some playing around with fans and running prime for just over an hour manged to get temps at maximum of 58/60 but majority time was 52/54 will push for 3.8/ 4 tomorrow:D
