The offical Ps3 highstreet store is allowing people to jump the queue on obtaining a PS3 IF they pre-order the new PSP 4gig pack with 2 games bundle along with their PS3.

By doing this they will jump the queue of exsisting PS3 pre-order people who are just after the PS3.

4. This Offer is LIMITED. The first 5,000 customers to participate in this Offer by placing an order for a 4GB Sony PSP games console (“PSP”) plus two games and a Sony PlayStation 3 console (“PS3”) via xxx.co.uk from 31/01/2007 will be placed on our priority list for the PS3 (“Priority List”) These customers will take precedence over any other online xxx customers when xxx are allocating PS3’s to customers after receipt of these products from Sony.

so if you want a PS3 from said store and want it on release date then you got to spend £700! ALONG WITH A 4GIG PSP

its being put in a 'priority' queue that i dont agree with.

Indeed, but if that's their way of approaching pre-orders then I would stay well-clear and go elsewhere anyway.

I saw that today when i was looking at their 3 dvd's for 18 notes deal!
Its out of order isnt it? :(

Why would you need a 4GB memory stick when you have a 60GB HDD?

It's simple supply and demand and from a business point of view, if I sold consoles for a living I would do exactly the same to make sure I stay ahead of the competition.

IT's probably a good deal actually because you will need something to do whilst waiting for Sony to make enough consoles. It's limited to to 5000 customers but there is no chance of them getting 5000 consoles at launch.

Retailers must love hearing theres a shortage of aconsole, they know then that they can force people to buy the console with games or other accessories bumping up the overall price significantly. Id love to see some law passed stopping them doing it, this supply and demand crap is used far too often these days making people spend in some cases multiple hundreds of pounds more

From what I understand (and this may no longer be current Sony Practice)

If you to sell sony goods, you quite often have to buy other sony goods too (I think this might only apply at wholesale) Ie when the PS2 came out you hax to by x psones as well as y ps2s. So I bet Sony are fourcing the retailers to purchaces these 4gig packs and the retailers are being "creative" in offloading them.

Its the same with sony centres, when the new models come out the shop has to get them in, thus they end up selling the older models for half price.

My friend pre-ordered a PS3 months ago and they said he was 40th in the queue. What are the odds he'll get one within a week or two of launch? He plans to sell it on ebay but I'm not so sure he'll make much of a profit.
