I went and bought a 3D monitor (Acer G235H) and Im not liking it at all. The 2D picture is perfect, but when in 3D mode, you cant view webpages or play games with any text, theres horizontal lines every other pixel or so. I can kind of see them in 2D without the specs too.
I used my friends Samsung unit (one of the first 3D monitors available) and you can do everything in 3D in that.

My 3D also seems....forced. Its off slightly which makes you feel kind of sick (not me though 'cause Im awesome). With the Nvidia Vision kit, you can scale your 3D to your taste, where this monitor has 1 setting (that I can find).
Might sound stupid, but my GPU is ATI and the monitor states its "Optimized for Nvidia", would this make a difference?
Its a passive unit if that makes any difference.

Any tips?

If you are not happy with the 3D then send it back, and save for the samsung that you KNOW will be good.

Well I just sent it back, but I cant find the Samsung unit anywhere. Guess the novelty of 3D wore off quicker than I thought.

If the monitor wasn't doing what you wanted it to, sending it back has more value than keeping it :)

What is the model of the samsung?

I wonder if you got the right glasses for the monitor, thread here, I imagine the Acer is using an LG passive screen. I have the LG D2342P 3D monitor and I am very pleased with it so far. Oh and you can scale the 3D in my monitor, I'd be surprised if you couldn't in the Acer.:)

3D is a fad, just spend the money on a high quality 2D screen that you'll get a lot more out of in the end.

Totally agree if 3d is going to go mainstream it is going to have to be a lot better then what we have at the moment this goes for cinema tv and computers.

This so-called fad has made for an awesome experience in many games over the past year since I picked up my hn274h, quite a few I would not even bother to play in '2d' at all, and quite a few I had played in 2d all the way through but did again just because the 3d was so much better.

People tried to put me off then calling it a fad and a gimmick, and I think it's honestly a shame some people just don't get the same experience out of it because I can't play some of those games without it. I've put in thousands of hours like this now, I'll be doing thousands more. Best PC upgrade for me since the old days when 3d hardware acceleration became commercially viable bar none.

Only downside is the sometimes lackluster support given to it by some developers (even though for many of them it already works great without them having to lift a finger to make it so), the recent skyrim 1.5 patch **** up being a primary example, so they seem to be reacting a little ingratefully towards the tech and its supporters who want to play their games through it.

Two sides to every story. My quality 2d screen is used for browsing the web now, and I'll take my (1920x1080)^2 view over any 2d resolution any day. I'm not a tv junkie so although I think that market (including films) has been even slower to produce decent material and could do so much better, I'm not in it for that side of the package. Games for certain are fairing a lot better from it currently.

^^Couldn't agree more, was almost put off buying a 3D monitor by comments such as those above, glad I went ahead as I think its amazing and as I already said I still have an excellent 2D monitor as well so no risk really in trying it.:)
