I sold it.......and bought something else...

Whats over drive on the gears? I have heard of this but never questioned what it is. Only 4 forward gears aswell

All I'm hearing in my head when I look at those last pictures is Yello - "Oh Yeah"
What I wouldnt have given to have been driving something that looked like that with the uber coolness of that dash when I was 21.
But then I'm sad like that :p
Pic's in the dark with the whole thing lit up next please!

Overdrive is an extra box to the gearbox. So you still only have 4 gears you select. But with the Corvette having auto OD in the top 3 gears it will detect when you are not powering it (like an auto) and will engage overdrive. This changes the ratio so to make it as if you changed up a gear.

My Dolomite has a 4 speed box then OD in 3rd and 4th. Mine is manual with putting overdrive on, I havea switch on the top of my gearstick instead. So when I am in 3rd or 4th and cruising what you do is flick the switch. A second later it will engage overdrive and lower my revs. It gives my Dolomite the same sort of revs at 70 as say like my old Focus in 5th gear. When you engage or disengage overdrive you do not use the clutch.

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious ****.

One thing that sprung to mind, is that MPG perhaps in yank gallons? Thus actually being a lot better than it looks...

Yup, indeed it is! All town driving so far, as well. It's doing well!

I brimmed the tank though, so I'll work off that and then see how it stacks up against what the computer says.

And yea, I'll get some night shots later! I'd not thought of that! :D

This has overdrive on 2nd, 3rd and 4th - you can toggle in and out freely, have to watch your revs though if you're pushing on. In theory, it has 7 gears but some of the ratios almost overlap :)

Drives very well at the moment but haven't pushed it much yet. Corners really well though, no squeal and there's barely any body roll. It's a bit clattery over very bumpy roads though, as being an American 'sports' car it has rock hard suspension :D

backward switch gear, as stated. and only 290 ponies from a 5.7???

still nice piece of "exotica" for the UK though!

california smog policies dictate that.............manifold, stainless exhaust, remap and 400+ is achievable

at 21? nicely done mate!! at least some people have taste :p

Bloody 'ell lad!

Nice ride!

When I get my ADR licence, I'll happily follow you about in my tanker , if you like. ;) :D
