I stole a dog!

Last night cycling home something really strange happened. Apart from NOT falling off and surviving, this little Jack Russell started to follow my rear. It's not the usual sort of dog I attract but in many ways, this dog was by far sweeter.

She was following me for about a mile and after a while, I thought she was clearly lost. So I picked her up and checked for a dog tag, which there wasn't one.

Not knowing what to do, I thought the best thing would be to take her home so I put her in my back pack with just her head popping out. I think she enjoyed the ride (please no puns here) as she didn't moan.

When I got home the family were overjoyed that I brought a young dog home. “Can we keep her?”, “Absolutely no way”, I replied.

Later on in the evening, I phoned the police who weren't interested; there was no answer at the RSPCA which did surprise me so I had to drop her off at the local dog drop in.

I feel guilty now that maybe she knew were she was and I’ve stolen her....

how slow must you have been riding that a small dog was able to keep up for a mile.

LOL Any reasonably fit dog (especially a working breed) would find that easy. Do you keep KC dogs? ;) :p As an aside, the local police are legally bound to accept stray/found dogs although they do try to wriggle out of it sometimes. Our local nick (and most others) has a kennel block attached for just this purpose.

Carry on Huddy :D

Oh dear - this was the point at which you started being a dog owner :D

Try the nearest Canine Defence League branch, the RSPCA or local vets. They should be willing to check to see if she's beed ID chipped FOC.

...should be done. Finger crossed she is chipped.

Oh dear. Poor thing was right outside it's house when it decided to chase you!

You should probably make up a couple of posters as suggested above. Just stick your number on their or explain where you left it.

Kudos for putting it in your bag, though.

Wouldn't the logical thing to have knocked on a door to see if anyone reconised it... it's owner probably lived nearby and would be looking for it... whereas you took it away, complicating things.

I did knock on a few doors roughly where it started following me, asking if anyone knew the dog.. no joy. It may have been out for hours for all i knew.

Fair enough. You done good =]

Hope the little fella gets re-united with his owner.
