Anyone else have this problem? :D Its not that I'm super lazy its just that whenever my alarm goes off and I'm in a dream the alarm sound is in my dream and I just go about my dream without realising its my alarm clock going off?

Sounds strange but happens to me 80% of the time my alarm goes off. :o Anyone else have this? :D

I bought a fairly decent alarm, its very loud - wakes up the whole house and even has a vibrater which has gone underneath pillow, floor, underneath mattress with no help!

Get a louder alarm.

Doesn't help me, I can sleep through any alarm, even fire alarms. I hear them, I just don't respond.

I have to rely on my brains alarm clock, I tell myself to wake up at 7:25 and I will wake up at 7:25. I've no idea how this works.

Sometimes you can tune into certain sounds, no matter how faint, I've even woken up to the sound of my mobile alarm which at the time was inside my car parked on the drive

I'm quite a heavy sleeper, alarms didn't always work. In the end I opted for a PC alarm playing Through The Fire And The Flames at a loud volume. Its never failed to scare the *** out of me in the morning :p (not suitable if you live with others)

I used to have a similar problem.... as a bit of a joke my dear old dad bought me this massive old fashioned alarm, you know the type, two big bells and a little hammer on top? This thing was the size of a large dinner plate!

Anyway the old git, decides one day to set the alarm for 5am to get me up for work (Didn't realise it was my day off) this thing goes off, I **** myself with fright jumped out of bed and stood at attention before I realised what the hell was going on (I'd been in the RAF for a few months, never gotten woken up like that there so don't understand the response)...

Old man and the rest of the house got woken up too thinking it was a fire alarm, I can tell you it never got used as an alarm again!

Moral of the story just get a big **** off novelty alarm! :D

hire a prostitute to slap you in the face at 7am every morning.. after a month you'll be so scared of the slap you'll wake up on your own.. ;)

I used to have this problem, when I was a teenager I would become immune to an alarm noise after a while. I'd either be able to sleep through it or turn it off in my sleep, I had to change the sound and put it on the other side of the room. These days I'm used to the work routine so it's not a problem any more.

Get up later if you can.

Get an alarm that has a continuous beeping sound and place it on the opposite side of the room so you have to get out of bed to switch it off, and can't hit the evil 'snooze' button.

I often wake up late not remembering turning the alarm off!

The answer is to either set 5 alarms within 5/10 mins of each other, or put it on the other side of the room.

Maybe try sleeping with the curtains open. Certainly helps me wake up with the sunlight coming through the windows.

This works for me, but can't be used in winter!

Like the op I am a heavy sleeper, sometimes when my alarm goes off I will notice it in my dream but it won't wake me, e.g I will dream about the alarm and maybe ask someone to turn it off!

The main thing that works for me is a wife. My alarm wakes her up and then she kicks me. Works every time!

I would also suggest placing the alarm on the other side of the room. I can sometimes turn off an alarm without consciously waking.

I usually wake up just before my alarm but it's on very quiet so that my other half doesn't get disturbed. However we both get up at similar times now so it's less of an issue.

However, I generally sleep well and can't wait to get up in the morning. :)

Have you tried a phased alarm. I.e. one that goes off a little earlier, and then one more time before your desired get up time? Then at least you're sure it's not a dream!
