I suck at SF4...

Just thought I'd mention that I get SF4 second hand the other day as I wanted a fighting game.

Now bear in mind that I have played every DOA to death from the first one through the last one...I would say that I am a seasoned player of DOA. On that endless arena mode thingy I have 75 wins as Bass, late 60s as Leon and over 50 with the majority of the ninjas (minus Ayane!)

I tried SF4 arcade mode on easy as Ken, as I know the fighting style is different from DOA's but I lost 4 times to the first character (cant remember who) before I got the hang and beat them....strangley I smacked the 2nd character (Blanka) easily...and then the third character (Viper) beat me 9 times in a row and I gave up!

I can hold my own on DOA in the practise mode against a level 8 opponent (which I think is the top level)...and yet I couldnt win the 3rd fight on SF4 on EASY!
 
No-one cares about your DOA records / achievments... Man-up....SF4 is where its at !

Get a stick and start practising.
 
Abuse the CPU. Just block then sweep when you see them do a move. You can easily beat Seth on hardest doing that.
 
I used to be a bit poor.. then i replaced the sticks on my xarcade. Now i am pretty passable but its probably more because i have been practicing. Its just a case of keep at it.. Oh and you cant really compare SF4 vs DOA... totally different fighting game and the moves are performed a fair bit different..
 
Do the challenges, it helps to give you a basic understanding of the characters moves and basic combos.

To be good at SF4, you'll need to know what is your best anti air, general spacing, and know exactly what you can do after each move, whether you've hit them or if it's been blocked.
 
Play on hardest, I played through on medium first time. And since then it's hardest or I don't bother playing against the CPU. Definately forces you to improve! And I hate Abel the most as a CPU opponent
 
I have never really understood fighting games. I find button smashing to be the most effective.

I can't see the skill the fighting games. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Your loss ! Can't beat a good competitive bout on a fighting game & SF4 is amoung the best.. Actually allow me to rephrase that.. It is the best !
 
experience vs cpu might as well be no experience. also the ideas between fighters can be similar but the game mechanics, especially between 3d to 2d are quite different

It's popular and pretty, but there are so many competitive fighters that are far better than SSFIV.

Capcom vs SNK 2 is my favourite of all time. Love it pieces, I still play it on the dreamcast against friends and it's just so damn enjoyable aswell as the technical aspects being immense
