I suck at SF4...

It's popular and pretty, but there are so many competitive fighters that are far better than SSFIV.

But they were not around when I was 12 and playing SF2 on the arcades in the days when Guile could finish off opponents in little over 5 seconds!;):D

Awesome times. Be back on the SFIV scene soon as well so watch out. althouh I feel my skills may be alittle rusty:D

cheers for all the replies. I wasnt neccesarily comparing DOA to SF...just stated my ability at that to show that its not like I dont play those kind of games!

I think it was just a shock to be so bad at a genre I thought I was reasonably good at...

still, got a long weekend coming up so I'll just keep going till I get it

Maybe you are more used to 3D fighting games than 2D ones?

I mean the fact that in 3D fighters, you can easily sidestep or back out far into the left or right hand sides of the screen with the camera zooming out for you, hence a lot of space between the combatants, whereas in 2D fighters you are mostly stuck in a fixed area and not given as much room.

Then there is also the mechanics. There is a lot more juggling in 3D fighters (Tekeen being the most notorious) which makes some games pretty easy to take advantage of. Dead or Alive also has it's own counter-system which decreases health pretty quickly.

Everyone that doesn't dedicate most of their free time to games like this I would imagine suck.
It's just one of those games you have to put a lot in to to get good and have a decent arcade stick on top.

and have a decent arcade stick on top.

Indeed...I have found the d-pad and the thumbsticks on the 360 pad to not really be great for things like zangeifs throws.

Not sure I'm going to play it enough to get a stick specially for it. Maybe I should just play something else.....Evil Zone perhaps!? :D

Yeah that there is a big problem itself, the 360 pad for fighting games, ugh!

Evil Zone LOL! Now that is ancient.

If you plan to stick with 3D, then the ones currently left would be Virtua Fighter 5, Soul Calibur IV and Tekken 6.
