...been trying to figure out for the last few days why my neww rig randomly crashes and shuts down (always does this when i go to play games). but anyway i got memtest the bootable version and the test is scanning atm but the test has already shown up 25 errors....can they be fixed or do i have to RMA?

EDIT: 57 errors now

Jeeze this Giel RAM has been dodgy for so many people :( Why do people still buy it, is there something special about it? Or has it been really good for ages and this is a dodgy batch

Maybe it's as cheap as it is for a reason? Can't believe all their sticks are bad, but the % seems to be relatively high. Don't see so many complaints for other brands, but then I imagine OCUK sell a lot of the geil ram given it's so cheap, so therefore you're going to see more issues with it. I don't know. Makes me think twice about buying it though. RMA is always a pain.

Try increasing the memory voltages in bios, and/or slacken the timings alightly and see if the errors go away.

Are you overclocking, or is everything running at stock.

Do you have it set to 1T or 2T timing? Built a rig with a friend recently using the geil PC800 stuff and it would not go to 1T. 2T it would accept really tight timings, even a reasonable overclock at stock volts... but 1T not a chance in hell!

2T i think.

i have the voltage at high (also tried normal and auto)
and had the timings at auto, 4-4-4-12 and 5-5-5-15

i have tired my old ddr400 ram but i don't know the timings for it and it still crashes and restarts etc.

also worth noting on the little sticker on the ram itself it states specifically it needs 2.1V... we have it at 1.9V on my friends so clearly that isnt true ;) It might be worth specifically settingto 2.1 though.

Other than that... its looking like its faulty :(

with the asrock 775 dual vsta you can't set it exactly you can only chose from auto/low/normal/high
