I am 20 years old and have been playing games since I was 3.

I was bought a mega drive with sonic and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. So much so I sprayed my hair blue when I was 3 :)

I think I had a bit of a problem I think when I was younger - I was constantly on games and would always think of going on then whatever I was doing and sometimes got restless when I wasn't.

Now I'm 20 bored most nights in my room on base because I'm skint. And have no desire to play my xbox. I have about 30 games - a lot of them havnt even been played, but can never be arsed to load it up.

Most games I play consist of me feeling like I've done this before, and get bored easily.

Anyone else feel like this recently? It's a shame, because I really used to love gaming, now I feel like it's lost.

no ?

console gaming has brought us some great exclusives this year. Theres nothing like sitting down with a drink and some snacks in front of your HDTV and playing a good console game. Console game sales have never been higher !

I thought you were going to say you were 40 or something. Sounds like you just need a break from it.

Do you play on your own or with mates? It is a lot more fun if you play online with your friends or invite them over and play.

I thought you were going to say you had lots of other things to do be doing. I was a little surprised when you said you were sat in your room doing nothing.

You're taking base because you're skint?

You just need to find one of those games that are addictive (this will also help you get off the drugs). For me atm it's MW2 multiplayer. I was addicted to Everybody's Golf World Tour for 2 years.

I think I have grown out of gaming

No chance, once you're a gamer you never grow out of it! We all go through gaming ups and downs as with any hobby or pastime.

If you feel disinclined to play then don't,take some time off and develop new hobbies and interests. Even if you go several months or more without gaming eventually a new title will catch your eye, you'll play it and love it and you'll find it re-ignites your interest, you'll then go back to your game collection and enjoy playing through them more than ever.

I've been gaming for many years and have had long periods where nothing seemed to stimulate my interest but I've always eventually come back to my mouse, keyboard and gamepads,I'm now finding the older I get the more I enjoy gaming and the less likely I am to have extended lay offs.

The 20's is a period of change for all of us so it's not suprising your attention seems to be diverted elsewhere,go with it. The games won't go away and you'll eventually return to them with renewed enthusiasm. All the best.

edit/Sorry I didn't realize you're reverting to speed, don't take that crap mate,it's disgusting stuff and will eventually make you ill,get out of your room, exercise and spend time with friends/family. It sounds like you need to rebalance things a little. I don't wish to sound preachy but taking that stuff reguarly is really harmful mentally and physically,no wonder you can't concentrate on your games with that stuff in your system.

I do this every so often, ill go through times where i dont touch the ps3 for weeks, then for some reason start playing again and wont be off it for the next couple of months. If you truely are bored of games though then i pity you :(

Wow bored at 20, Some of us are closer to 40 and a few even older.

Give you a tip: buy less games and your more likely to play more the ones you have.
We are spoiled these days with so many systems and games. Theirs too much stuff available. Maybe consder renting a few before deciding to buy it.

Is your problem that you like to get new games to see what all the hype is about and experience it but its that what you enjoy from the games in actually experiencing the game rather than actually perhaps playing it with much desire to complete it.

Ive certainly become a gamer that is fussy over what games even interest me yet still like to experience new games, however once you do expereince it and get into a few hours play often it can get boring and as you put it indeed like youve seen it all before.

I must admit, for those who know me on here I'd be on the 360 every day. Now I seem to turn it on a couple of times a week, doesn't help I only really play MW2 and FIFA, nothing takes my fancy at the moment.

Exactly the same happened to me when I hit about the age of 20. I used to be a die hard gamer, doing a good 5 hours or more a day and now I maybe do an hour a week if that. The annoying thing is ive now got a wii and an xbox sat gathering dust, but i begrudge trading them in as they are worth so little. The only console I own that is used regularly now is the PS3, but even then thats only because I think its a class media centre.

Youll either get back into it or youll pretty much stop altogether.

Personally I cant help but think all of the game ranges that I used to love have now dried up. The only games that are making me keep the consoles are Gran Turismo, Gears of War and the next Test Drive. After that, they can all disappear more than likely.

Need for Speed - The new ones are hopeless compared to Road Challenge, Hot Pursuit etc
Medal of Honour - new ones aint a scratch on the original
Call of duty - Has become a brand name rather than a genuinely good game. Multiplayter on the new one isnt too good, campaigns remain good though
Bioshock - I fell in love with the first one, and was insanely disappointed with the second one. Bioshock 2 was the only game I looked forward to this year, and it let me down
Rainbow 6 - I fell in love with Raven Shield, played it for nigh on 4 years before eventually taking up CSS, then the following games were hopeless

i played wolf et 5 years straight .....and after that tribal wars... but i lost my main interest after et...

did the whoel ps1 dreamcast/ ps2 / xbox/ pc /continuosly .. and lost interest in main gaming .... bought a fresh pc for media .. but now play old steam games etc .. may get back to mainstream at some point

I'm in a similar boat tbh. 22 Years old,got a wii, PS3 and PC. For years I games everyday for hours from sega to PS1 then my PS2 before getting into PC gaming. Now I can't be annoyed playing any games. I've 6 games for the PS3 (killzone, little big planet, GTA4 to name a few) and have only clocked up about 2hours on each since I got it after christmas! The wii gets most play time with wii sports resort and wii fit (surprisingly additive) but I would only play about 2 hours a week in total unless theres some special occasion like 4 player mario kart and even thats slowly decreasing. I havent games on my PC for months now and its been left to folding@home just so it gets turned on.

I can trace back how I went from 6+ hours a day to 2 hours a week and thats my GF followed by uni work. I spend so much time out of the house or studying when im in I barely do anything I use to. Now that the summers here I just can't back into gaming even tho Ive PS3 titles still to play, mass effect 2, Far Cry 2 and Bio shock still to play on PC and finish a couple of PS2 titles I never got round to. I think about doing it and plan to do it but just can't seem to work up the effort. Meh, maybe one day

If you're that bored maybe you should find something productive to do... upgrade your grades, go to uni, get a part-time job , take some courses. I don't know but at that age, you really shouldn't be playing video games so much anyway.

So go out and do something different. Or stay in and do something different - read, write, learn to play an instrument, learn to make something, whatever.

If you want to get back into gaming, try some different genres. I can barely play FPS these days as I played so much during my teens, so they all bore me these days.

Yes I'm the same bored of it tbh. This was my first console since my early 20's and I've done it to death. I think in 3+ years I've played/tried 130 odd games and I've barely played anything this year.

Gaming has changed though, when I was younger people found a game they loved played it to death and kept that game for years, especially MP games. Now it's next next next. Very hard to get a community going on a game even with the wealth of gamers on ocuk because people move on so fast.

You could in the early days because there was fewer games, we could play full team games of ocuk players.

I think every gamer goes through this. I felt the same last summer and didn't game at all, except playing a few games of Mario Kart with friends. Then Uncharted 2 came out and I became an addict once more.
