Hi all! I was installing something from the net a couple of days ago and my Norton 360 popped up saying that a virus was detected and was put into quoranteen. To make sure the virus hadnt taken effect i ran a full system scan and nothing was picked up.

Since then, Norton keeps popping up saying a virus was trying to attack your system but it was stopped! Also, since this point my Tune Up software keeps saying the following:
SecurityWarning-1.jpg

I tried to do a system restore back 7 days and all seemed ok until the system started up again, once everything settled i got an error message saying that the system restore was not possible.

Sorry for the long description but there seems to be a lot of weirdness at the mintue.

Cheers Chris

First thing get rid of norton!,then download a 30 day trial of either NOD 32 or Kaspersky and then run a full system scan.

Well after god knows how long last night the software picked up 12 trojans all in the system files! Using the software i asked it to remove them and was asked that to continue the removal of the trojans the system would need to re-start!

So 35mins later the system still hadnt even shut down yet and i had to leave for work! So fingers crossed that it could remove most of them so i can run combofix as suggested above later..........!

What a nightmare! Thanks to everyone!

OK, a little update! I've since ran combofix and let it do its thing (in safe mode, not connected to the internet) all seemed fine until i turned the PC on tonight and Norton came up saying a Virus had been found and need attention. So i ran malwarebytes on a full scan and it didnt pick anything up, which one should i believe?

Also, my PC is running really slowly since all this started, is there anything else i should be checking?

Chris

Norton may well have picked up a false positive. In order to know that you should tell us what virus it thinks it has found and in what file/program.

I should also point out that Malwarebytes is not an antivirus. It is anti-malware. So it may be the reason it hasn't picked up something that Norton has.

Will do, thanks. Running a Norton Full System scan as quick scan didnt pick anything up, hopefully have some more info for you this millenium (its sooooo flipping slow!!!)
