I have just dont the most stupid, crazy and allthogether idiotic thing i have ever done.

I tried to do an overtaking manouver on a bit of road i though was safe. However, i misjudged and had to swerve back in to avoid an accident. The car coming the other way was a Police Traffic car.

I have been caught on video, and charged with Driving without due care and attention, and was apparently lucky not to be arrested.

I am so scared, i could have killed someone, and i dont think i will ever forget the way this has effected me. Im a **** of the highest order and fully expect to lose my licence. I Already have three points for a speeding offence. Im so dissapointed with myself right now. Driving without due care and attention is something i never thought i would ever be stupid enough to do. I, untill tonight, considered myself a good and safe driver.

Please be carefull on the roads, i will never forget the Police officers words. "You could have killed me" I deserve the full punishment of the law, and expect to have to pay heavily.

I expect no sympathy, quite the opposite.

*UPDATED* - This was in 2006, see page two for update nearly 4 years later!!

**** mate :(

What made the overtake suddenly dangerous? Just misjudging the gap?

I misjudged the road, which is just stupid, i know it well. I think i thought i was on a different part. It was late and i have been up since 7 and working all day. Its no excuse, infact it makes it worse. I should have realised my judgement was impared and altered my driving to suit.

Mate what's wrong with you... I assume it was an NSL road and the police car was no doubt travelling at 60mph in the other direction...

FLOOR IT, you should have 0121 done one.

Unfortunately though that could well mean 3 points, unlucky mate.

Welcome to my ignore list.

In 12 days, I will once again have a clean license....I was convicted on the offence on the 24/01/2007, and received 6 points and a 240 quid fine.

I decided to bump this old thread nearly 4 years down the line and remind people that sometimes you have to make silly errors, and it is not the end of the world, and you do learn from them :)

I changed my attitude to driving massively after this event. I have decided that ultimately i am glad this happened, and a better driver/person for it!

I'm probably going to lose my licence for a few weeks.
For some stupid ****ing reason I didn't slow down for temporary roadworks, and kept going on cruise control.

136km/h in a 70 :( ( ~ 85 in a 40)

It'll probably be a 2 week ban from what I've heard, so I'll just go on holiday..
On the plus side, I now know that the reading on the CC screen in the 'secret menu' is bang on.

Sucks, but not the end of the world, was it late at night?

lol, sorry for the confusion peeps! I did say in my reply that this thread was 4 years old..

Whilst the first post was slightly melodramatic.. I was on a bit of an adrenaline high at the time. I had literally walked in the door and wrote the thread there and then. I was also a lot younger and more excitable than I am now. The policeman had painted a pretty dingy picture of my driving future at that point. I understand why he did it too.

Anyway :p I will edit the first post to avoid confusion.

So what offence did you get convicted for? Heads up to you mate at least you owned up to your mistake! I see a lot of people driving like d*cks every day.

CD10 - Driving without due care and attention. £220 quid fine and 6 points. The court process was a nightmare though.
I missed 2 court dates as they had sent my documents to the wrong (un-occupied) address.
The officer has copied down my address details (and name!) incorrectly.
I just missed out having a warrant out for my arrest (by less than 24 hours), as the third incorrectly addressed summons was re-directed by my newly moved in neighbour.

This meant I was never actually summoned in time legally for the offence. However apparently "this does not matter" - direct quote from the magistrate.

The problems with that part of the process just make it that much more trying.
