Unlucky there. Just be thankful it wasn't on a more expensive piece of hardware.

hmm, im still a bit suspicious its done something to my motherboard or PSU (foxconn a7da-s 3.0 / OCZ modxstream 500w), as its still needing a 2-3 boots every few startups. Ive got it all stripped out of the case (needed a clean anyways XD) and running benchies on my desk with every bios warning activated and a load of temp/volt monitoring programs running. I know its paranoia, but i dont wanna take my chances :/

at least those are RMAable...
 
Only a suggestion but if things don't improve you could try removing the mobo battery and leaving it for a few mins before replacing it and firing her up.
 
At least you didn't pull the ram chips clean out of the card when you removed the heatsink, not my proudest moment.

My best moment was knocking a resistor off the back of an old 7900gs and watching it slowly die over the next few days. Was a sad time for me.
 
all down four tiny pieces of plastic that probably aint worth a penny put together

the motherboards been benching all night with no hiccups, so i think its all right. ill just have to keep watching the boots
