I'm in trouble.....i have my pc connected up to a hi fi system, now when i've read the instructions for said system it says to plug right speaker into right socket and left speaker into left socket so far so good

Now i've always asumed that when talking of left and right speakers your put yourself in front of your hi fi, i always assumed this to be correct as
A it seemded logical, and B the wires from speaker to amp plugged into there repsective sockets without crossing over each other

My X fi has just given me a rude shock!! on setting up the card and installing all the gubbins, i was asked to do a little test and yo an behold the test for left is comming from right and the test for right is comming from left!!!

It's all wired in right so the only thing i can think of is they wrongly colour coded my left right jacks on my Y connector or i am a dummy of the first order, am i right i assumming that speaker left and rights are done on the basis of you facing them? i had always thought it so but this has shaken my faith......

Basically, you should hear the "left channel" spoken from the speaker closest to your left ear when facing the front channels. If not it is incorrect :)

yeah i thought it can't be right, i'm downloading new drivers so it's either creative who've messed up or my y connector left/right jacks are wrongly colour coded with the left an right mixed up. I just did a quick cd test in my car and the sound matches perfectly with what currently comes out my stereo.

So i can officially rule out any dumbness on my part :)
