I'm trying to install Win 7 64-bit on a new SSD which i finally got today.

I get to the 'where do you want to install windows' screen

i have 'Disk 0 Partition 1'

If i try ;next' i get 'setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing partition. see the setup log files for more information'

I try 'new' then 'format' create new partitions and they wont work, delete them, refresh, cant load drivers as i dont have any.

Someone please help, i'm currently making a cup of tea, after that i will be picking which window to throw the PC out of... About the only 'windows' i'm seeing at the moment :(:mad:

Yeah i enabled ACHI in twice as its in my BIOS in two places within the same menu. I did ask if that was right in a thread before the weekend but no one replied lol

It is the only drive attached, however half way through setup i realised my usb external was still connected and so removed it, might that be the issue? I have rebooted now... see how it goes

Thanks for your replies :)

If you are unsure about partitions, you can always bring up DISKPART by hitting Shift-F10 then typing diskpart at the command prompt. Then list disk to show all available disks, use the command select disk n to select the correct disk and finally type clean. This wipes all partition information from the disk. Then close the command prompt. From there you can just basically hit next on the partition screen as Windows will set up all the correct partitions for you :)

Ok... so it seems it was because initially i had my USB drive attached still!

Thanks guys, and sorry for pretty much wasting your time, i have been so frustrated with this PC since Friday that my patience is almost non-existent lol

Seems quite slow though  proof will be once its done though i guess
