I think I'm too scared to play Condemned 2

Yep, I'm admitting it.

I think since I've had a daughter my ability to 'handle' horror films/games has diminished and despite playing and finishing the first Condemned all the trailers (especially it's showing on a recent 1UP show) have just made me think 'my god, it's too much, I can't play this'.

I really want to play this as it looks soaked in atmosphere I just don't think I can give it justice and if I did get it I'd go through it with the lights on and sound down low. So as yet I've not preordered it.

Anyone else feel the same?

And boy I've opened myself up for some stick ;)

GTAIV and Condemned 2 is all I want on the 360 this year and I'm hugely looking forward to the latter.

Condemned scared the living balls off me. Hell one of the latter levels in a house took me two days to pass because I was too scared to go down the the basement. I'm avoiding watching trailers for both games as I want to be genuinely shocked and surprised when I play either title.

I reckon I'll play the first few levels with the lights off, and my headphones on. After that the immersion and 'alone in the dark factor will hit me and I'll need new pants :o

I keep forgetting this is coming so soon, then everytime I'm reminded I get a little bit too excited than someone of my age should be over a game.

What a big wuss!!!!!

Just remember to leave the landing light on, empty bowels before playing and make sure the main light switch is near by. DO NOT under any circumstances use a torch because it casts shadows in the corners of the room and the infamous "turtles head" will make an appearance.

That's what I did, and I'm 'ard as nails.

I watched that recent 1up show that featured Condemned 2, and I have to say although I loved the original Condemned on 360, I wasn't too fussed about this as there are so many other great games due soonish... that was until I saw that 1up show, it looks amazing, as you say soaked in atmosphere, and this is looking more and more like a purchase for me rather than a rent.

I know what your saying though Abooie, I've not so much been scared of playing a game but am looking at games now and thinking the violence is just totally unnecessary and in some cases its ruining gaming, its as though if a games not violent enough its no good, I don't mind violence in games, I just think there are TOO many violent games, I have 3 girls and it totally changes the way you view things.

The only game that I can remember scaring me is F.E.A.R on the PC. I literally could not play it for longer than 5 minutes without jumping, throwing my headset on the floor and quitting
(this was on the PC version)

I found the combat in Condemned disturbingly personal (as it should be, beating someone with a lead pipe shouldn't feel *good*).
If they continue in the same vein, ie. you can smash a tramps head against a toilet bowl but it will *feel* solid and make you take a step back afterwards then all the better I say for adding to the horror atmosphere.
As long as the violence isn't glamourised and fits into the atmosphere of the game then I don't have a problem with it.

edit: This is on PS3 as well ? oh great now I have to choose, I have no DS3 which makes me lean towards 360....

Abooie I did think myself about playing 1 in prep for two but i'm not a big horror fan myself so have decided to give the series a miss despite them looking half decent.
