all this runs on a homemade water chiller, which I will be using again on my upgrade so what I'm looking for is chip that's going to clock well and last me another 5 years. Looking to spend £600 ish on mobo/chip/ram. Graphics card will be Hd7950 clocked high as I can get it, also is it worth going for a 2011 board and having the option (maybe) 8 core later or even go the 8350 route?

Thanks for the replies, Psu is Enermax Galaxy 1000 and I agree quad channel would the best option this:

i7-3930k (£469.99)
Asus P9X79 (£199.99)
Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 16GB (4x4GB) (£109.99)

looks like what I will go with, will just need to put the build off for a month but I've waited this long a little longer won't hurt. Thanks for your help.

It may be time to replace the PSU too, this good ol' PSU calculator reckons you should take 30% off the capacity for 1+ years of use.

Enermax make fabulous products though so it's a tough one. I have a machine of similar age (E7200) also with an Enermax PSU and would probably replace it if it were me.
