Hi guys,
I'll give you a quick(ish) description of the issues. Upon starting up one day his screen started changing the colour of pixels seemingly at random, this includes the kinda mobo splash screen too. In windows where a browser screen is white, it would all be a light blue colour. This happened everywhere apart from where the cursor was, which was white. If you move the cursor around the screen it makes that part of the screen go white and the next few cm to right. It appears the white goes blue and black goes red, but not all at once, pixels all over the place change in no order. The problem then got worse, as now when he boots the laptop it does the usual strange colours for the boot logos before windows and then goes to the windows login screen, of which parts of the dark blue are purple. Now after logging in the screen flashes on and off as if some one is pulling out its power.
This is the laptop he bought from this lovely site in April 203 - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=24093378
I plugged the laptop via hdmi into a tv and everything seems fine, so i figured the gpu is fine. Since the pixel thing happens before windows boot i assumed that this means its the laptop screen itself, is this right?
Now we get to solution. He said he doesnt mind me opening it up (and maybe putting in a replacement) if thats what is required. Ive built plenty of desktops over the years but I was unsure if this would be wise with a laptop. I'd appreciate any advice you guys could give and also if it does need replacing then what should I look for to find like for like screen quality as he says he would like it to be similar since the one he had was bloody gorgeous,
17.3" SuperBright LED True HD Display (1920x1080 Resolution).
Is it likely that it is just another component that has died and not the monitor itself? Could loose cables inside cause this?
Sorry about the novel. Cheers.
