Basically when its on load (gaming/stress test) the driver stops responding and the monitors go out of signal. This first happened when an error popped up showing me that the kernel of my drivers got corrupted and kept giving me a blue screen on bootup until I deleted them from safe mode.My computer does not crash if I stress test ram/cpu and all temps seem fine even that of the graphics card.

Current card:9800gtx

Which card should I go for? I was thinking of the ati 6870..

Will ati be releasing any more graphic cards before Christmas/New year?

Yes, AMD are releasing the 6950, 6970 and the 6990 before Christmas. The 6950/70 cards will have 2gb of memory, with the 6990 being dual gpu.

I'd wait for someone else to reply with regard to the cause of the problem. My knowledge on this is limited. I'm not 100% sure in my mind that you need to upgrade, sounds like it might be an unresolved driver issue.

Have you checked the temp of your card when under stress? Also, when was the last time you gave the card a clean (i.e. removed the dust from heatsink etc)? You might have a home-made carpet in there...

The computer is clean and when my computer crashes its at about 70DEG temps not more.Temps are not a problem here.

I did uninstall the driver from safe mode,Gave is a clean sweep with driver cleaners, cleaned registry and installed and older of version driver.

Friend is coming over lending me a gtx250 so I can wait till amd releases the 6950 or 6970

I hope this is not a psu issue but it does not seem like it as stress testing on cpu and ram does not crash the pc.I know these require less power to operate. When my computer shuts down it shows squared pixel artifacts and not the "line like" artifacts.
