I think my old PC just died ..

Hi ,

All was working fine last night , I turned it on this morning and i get a blank screen and a long bleeeeep ...then silance ... then another long bleeeeep .

Fans are all spinning , Hard drive spins but then stops .

I tryed clearing the cmos and switching the jumpers ...same thing happend.

I took out the CPU and put another in ... nothing ..just a blank screen .

Put the old CPU back and get the bleeeep .

Any tips / advice on what might be happening ...Or how to fix it ?

Motherboard, memory or graphic card been tested?

memory is ok ... i allso tryed some other sticks i had laying around ... bleeeeps .

How would i go about testing the mobo ?

follow the advice from basmic
or if its had a good innings, salvage what you know you can use, including the data and bin it

Look in your motherboard manual for the meaning of the beeps

We have a winner !

I think you hit the nail on the head .. this pc is about 5 years old and has lasted me realy well...It may be time to give it the bullet .

I was only going to use it for surfing the net and a downloading tool anyway .

My new PC is only a few weeks old and is awsome , So i might as well put the old boy to bed

Update ... just rang a mate of mine and he said he has a PC i can have that will do the job i need it to do so sorted .
