So many heat problems with my current system running 580 GTX SLI. In order to run them via SLI they need to be sitting on top of each other, I physicaly cannot put them in any more slots due to me having no more expansion brackets, now I am not sure if its the motherboard or the case (antec 1200) I wanna blame the motherboard, for having 2 PCIx1 slots infront of my first PCI x 16 slot, waste of space and that could have been used for me to sep my 2 GPU cards!!!

Right now running Rift my cards running at 93c and I bet my a** it will get hotter with fans on full 100%. OCUK and even forums have recommended I run water cool but the problem is, I don't want to do that I don't want to mess around with my system and componeants any more then I have to. Granted this is my first SLI set up, but I have easily learned my lesson now, and I think next time I will just stick with the one card or wait for a duel GPU card like the good old 9800GX2.

Yep, 94c... told you. I just dunno what to do, I'v tried to forget about it, out of mind out of sight sort of deal but its getting to much. Its getting to the point where I am thinking of selling one of my 580s because I just can't deal with the heat. My bottom GPU is running at a cool 61c whilest my top card is at 94c, I just dont think I can deal with these heat problems anymore, I just wanna chill and play my games but I can't knowing that I have my temps going through the roof. I ain't put any more fans in, I have tried mounting a side fan which did no help at all so took it out and I just have the fans that were included with the Antec 1200. I have even took off the part of the side pannel now hoping for extra cooling, and it helped a little but not my much and now my temps are at 95 c : (

I give up.

EDIT: And just for the record, they are stock.

Motherboard is X58A-UD7 Gigabyte

I didn't think resoultion mattered I thought even running at my current set up 1920x1080 with one monitor would get me all the speed I need to play games at ultra settings and also fraps my footage at a decent clip. (I like to post vids on youtube and maybe start to get into a bit of commentary)

So your telling me even if I use one, I won't see any drop in performance? Because if so, then yes I will do it! I just wanna relax and play games not have one eye on temps 24/7 :(

EDIT: Posted before I seen above posters comment.

What about in other games? Like Dragon age 2 and Bulletstorm and TDU2 (All games I have been able to run at max settings 1080p smoothly, will this still be doable with these games with just one card?

Yep, I'd have thought so. Best bet is to try them out - you have both cards in your possession after all. Just disable SLI and give them a whirl.

Well there defo is a performance decrease, and if i could find a way that didn,t involve taking my cards apart to keep them cool i would obviously use them. However i am finding it not to bad and i can still run my games at max detail and enjoy them i have learned my lessom regarding sli though : )

EDIT: Due to me noticing quite a big dip in performance, doesn't exactly make 1080p 580 SLI overkill :/

SO guys which case should I buy? I do like the motherboard and don't really want to get rid of that but I will certainly commit to buying a new case : ) THe Silverstone above is one example, any others? Remember, needs to be able to have more then 7 slots to beable to fully fit 2 580s without any problems or at least have the brackets more spaced out!

Thanks guys : )
