Hey Guys,

I have pretty much got rid of everything installed on my system. I have installed avira the free anti virus scanner. Done a full system scan. It found three viruses in some microsoft folder. The threat level wasn't actually that bad. I deleted the files. The whole computer is running fine all these days. But the reason I still think there is a virus is because whenever I use a speed test to test my internet speed. I only get something like 20kb/s when a computer on my network upstairs is getting 5.5mbps. This has been like this for months. The computer I am on right now with which is getting these slow results is my main one connected to my router. Its should be the computer giving me the fastest speed results. I believe there must b e a virus that is not being detected. As my other computers on the network are giving fast results and their totally clean. What can I do?

Many thanks in advance

try a different speed test
connect the machine via a different network port
connect the machine using wiring if wireless
burn it with fire
try disabling firewalls if you're running one
try a different virus scanner

Three options:

a) Reformat and reinstall.
b) Fill bath with water, immerse computer, dry and carry on.
c) Try hardware/software forums.

The choice is yours.

If your still getting virus warnings, post what they are on here.

You could also try Hijack this, and see if that comes up with anything odd that you do not recognise.

Do you have other network ports to connect to? Try them if you do.

I do wonder why I'm bothering to reply, as you seem to make up numerous threads and never reply in them, so hey.

Why ban me, I am not doing anything wrong! I ask a lot of questions. You guys are wonderful for answering them and you have bent over backwards to help me and I am really appreciative. Your all amazing. Thank you.

Now If I was to use this hijack this software would I need to remove my current anti virus software called avira?

I already have ccleaner installed is that better than hijackthis?

Is it okay to have both installed?

Edit: I downloaded hijackthis, ran the scan which completed in like a second. There seems to be no problems. I got a saved log, all the files that were scanned none of them appeared ticked in the check boxes. I assume that everything is fine. Is that right? So does this mean there is no virus on my computer?

Hijack this gives you a list....in that list can be harmfull thing's....look through the list, and note down anything that does not look 'normal' or you do not recognise.

Hijack this has a forum you can post your log onto, and 'experts' (more knowledgeable people) will look through it and tell you what / if anything is wrong....Richdog did link you to it.

I find CCleaner is just handy for removing pointless files, it doesn't really remove viruses as such...however it can clean your registry, but that's upto you obviously.

Have you tried updating drivers etc? Or anything like that? Do you have a firewall running etc?

Okay I just found in my windows folder neosetup, upon doing a google search it seems this is some ftp client for filefront. What should I do delete this?

Also I went stumbling around some folders on my drive and found ibjts. I did a gogle search and this is some spyware should I delete this or do I need a program to locate it?

Copy and paste the hijacthislog into this webpage and click the "Analayze" button http://hijackthis.de/

Then run hijackthis again and tick everything that webpage tells you is dangerous and click "Fix" in hijackthis.
