I've been playing the Crysis demo for a while now & the FPS remain the same at any resolution so is this graphics card or CPU?
Also as the following shot shows, theres really only 1 core doing any work:

It is to be expected (nay, guaranteed) that the final, retail version will run much smoother. The beta is only in x86, D3D9 single-core configuration as opposed to the retail's x64 multithreaded D3D10 offering. The beta also runs a debugger and compiler behind the scenes, which also detracts from the performance. So everyone will see a large leap in graphical performance from the beta to the finished product.

Hey thats good to know, I was worried my rig would not be fast enough.
So theres really going to be a 64bit version? woo hoo :) I remember Farcry 64bit going a lot better with also more trees/content.

it runs pretty sweet for me all the time:

q6600 @ stock
8800 gts 640mb @ 596/920
3gb geil ull @667
@ 1680x1050 all high settings - shaders on medium. usually 30ish all the time

if this is just single core then the final version should run a LOT better on any kind of multicore pc.

I remember when FarCry came out, it ran so much faster than the demo. So Im sure when they release Crysis, even the Crysis demo, it will be optimised better and running a lot smoother for people.

Really?

so the beta is only running one core?

Supposedly there are big performance gains to be had in dx10 and 64 bit os so heres hoping ( although i don't hold much hope, lol).

Im intrested to know what gadgets they are you have running actualy Ive yet to find any work having and the network and CPU ones look good. Also does Cysis take a hit once you put it in windowed mode? As i use dual monitor I like to play some games in Windowed mode so i can get across to the other monitor sometimes (mainly MMOs but good on shooters as well)

i hope them graphics is on a low res.they look pritty basic and i know its a beta but i cant get a key so i will wait for the single demo..hope it looks better on my pc.:(

The settings were all on High, the small screenshot doesn't give it justice tbh, the trees look spectacular & the leaves move as you walk past them, can post more screenies if ya want? A lot better graphics than Farcry.

The sidebar gadgets are easy enough to google ;)

PS. notice how even the demo is nearly consuming 2gig in Vista, OMG, recon this game is gonna need >2gig ..holy frak!

First and foremost.

Its NOT a demo, its a BETA.

Beta generally means its not finished yet, a demo is usually part of the finished product.

Secondly as mentioned above the beta is unoptimised, has debug code inbedded in the game and does not currently support multi-threading of any sort.

The final game will support upto quad core (possibly more) be 32 and 64 bit and obviously be properly optimised.
