Smarties are all now coloured using natural products. I'm pretty sure on the ingrediants list you will see beetroot mentioned...

Yeah man its the muslims, Nestle has a HUGE ice cream refinery in Kabul, its one of the main reasons the west went in. Is nothing sacred anymore?

:D

No I think they just changed the way they made the colours.

BIG NEWS FOR SMARTIES
Smarties now contain NO ARTIFICIAL COLOURS. This major change has been
implemented as of June 2006. By removing all artificial colours from the Smarties
sweets, the brand reacts to the overall trend of consumers becoming increasingly
concerned about additives and artificial colourings in children's foods. The colours
are as bright and glossy as the old Smarties. There is just one change to the colour
mix: the blue Smarties have been taken out, which leaves seven Smarties colours:
yellow, orange, red, pink, green, purple and brown

do they still make the red ones out of dead beetles? :p

cochineal (crushed bodies of scale insects that feed on the prickly pear)
Cochineal is widely used in many popular food items--read the labels!

I know what cochineals are, but it's just not as fun when you put it like that :p.

They couldn't find any natural colourant for the blue smarties so they stopped making them, does your ice cream claim to contain no artificial colouring?
