I always keep my itunes software upto date and have just noticed something.
It must be a while now but i used to back up some of my itunes music to CD but cannot find a way to do this now. I assume it must be some changes apple have done.

Thanks.

make a playlist of the tunes you want on cd,
then right click that playlist and select burn playlist to disk ;)

Burning a playlist to CD will write the lossy music tracks to an uncompressed music CD (to play in a Hi Fi system, for example)

What you're actually after (backup to CD/DVD) has actually been removed from iTunes. You must now make your own backup copy of your iTunes directory.

Either burn to DVD if <4.7GB, or copy to a backup hard drive.

See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1382

Justs buy yourself a cheap USB hard drive. Backing up to cd/DVD is so inefficient. If your library is that small just use a pen drive instead. I presume you don't backup your machine currently then?

I was planning on getting myself a NAS to back up my iTunes / photos library. But I dragged my feet about selecting a NAS and the price of HDDs went through the roof. Initially I wanted something that would do RAID 1. But when you're now looking at £100+ for a 1TB HDD (x2), never mind the NAS itself, it was cheaper to pull a 500GB drive out of a spare machine and use a £20 odd USB2 dock. No redundancy. But my iTunes / photos collection is not worth dropping nearly £400 on a RAID solution (Synology DS211J, 2x1TB).
