I love my new 360 just one down side is in display setting the 360 does not support 1680x1050 which is the native res for most LCD screens around 20 to 22" in size. I see the there's an option for 1920x1080 so if the 360 can handle that 1680x1050 should be do able and that res would make a huge difference to the picture sharpness.

I just wondered if there's been any rumors or anything that Microsoft will add this res anytime in the future? As I think it's a must.

No word yet but it's about time for another dashboard update, isn't it? I think it's usually around April/May time we get one?

This is the main reason why i moved from a PC monitor to a cheap LCD TV. The squashed picture annoyed me a lot. I really surprised they haven't fixed this by now with the amount of people using monitors for the 360.

I just realized why I thought my 360 looked crap on my TV, I had at 16:9 not 1:1 Pixel.

I forgot all 360 games run at 1080P (scaling) so I forgot to set 1:1 Pixel, otherwise it defaults (well usually) at 16:9 mode. (which zooms the image in considerably)

No wonder 720P native games looked like crap. :o

It makes a massive difference. On my TV if I have either the 360 do all the scaling (1360*768) OR the TV do it all (1280*720) and it looks fantastic. If I have both do scaling it looks a bit messy, same result on my PC monitors too.

Even if it supported 1680x1050, surely that would just be 720p upscaled? If it works like that..

Mine looks fab set to somethingX720 via VGA, I can set it to whateverX1080 but I miss 30px off the bottom on the screen, sometimes misses healthbars and such.

Completely agree. Just set it to 720 and get on with it!

Probably would make zero difference if the xbox was doing the upscaling over the monitor. Unless I'm missing something?

I personally just set it to 1360x768, i can not really tell the difference weather it's set at 720p or that. But any 16:10 resolution would be appreciated just to it isn't warped, even 1280x800 would suite me fine... even with borders. I suppose the borders would be the only way to do it though as the games in mind are programmed to support 4:3 and 16:9 only.

Most TFTs that are widescreen are 16:10 not 16:9 ratio and should support 720p or 1080p

.1680 x 1050
.1920 x 1080

= 360 x 30 This is very minor scaling

1080p should look good, it certainly does on my 215TW model
