hey guys,

i want the new 7990 when its released, ive searched the web for prices and benchmarks but cant seem to find a lot that convinces me thats its true

any of you guys getting one when released?

also do you think ill see a big gain from my 6990? the only thing that annoys me is the noise and heat from it!

A price was snapped from an ocuk competitor who can't be named, shortly after they pulled it but i believe the price was about £700 including Vat.

hehe getting the upgrade itch?

Shame, that system you have there is nice, pretty much the best of gear of the last gen.

Would a 7990 not bottleneck the only 760?
Also whats up with the 6990!!!???

yep deffo :D

i was planning on pretty much building a new system with my existing case, psu and HDD

the 6990 is a great card, played everything i have flawlessly except crysis 3 and far cry 3 but its really really noisy and very hot

it sits in the 90's in most games, i also got some corsair AF fans for better air flow but that didnt seem to do a lot lol

I was thinking of maybe jumping ship to AMD and the 7990.

I've been waiting for the 8x series, but i might be waiting a long time from what i've read.

The price needs to be reasonable though. Anything like the Titan and i'll wait for the 8970.

well the gtx 690 is £900, so £700 would be my limit as well

but if its quiet and cool then im jumping straight to it, also the gaming evolved titles have all the games i want to play atm, and BF4 from what ive seen and thats an even bigger bonus to staying with AMD :D

From what I've seen the 6990 performs approx the same as a 7970, so yes, a massive jump. I would be concerned that the CPU may need to be upgraded as well ! :D

Should be a big bump from your 6990, a single clocked 7970 will beat a 6990 just so effectively 7970 crossfire should yield some noticeable gains :)

£700 is a fairly good price, though I expect it to be closer to £650. Doesn't matter that much either way, will still be cheaper then a 690 & faster.

that's good then, just need to know heat and noise tests now :)

will be very very disappointing if its like this 6990, its so loud and hot its just silly

i may go x79 not sure yet, the price for a 8350 and a ROG board is very tempting tho

what do you guys think?

X79 is the way forward imo.

Heat and noise should be much lower, especially considering it essentially has a windforce cooler ;)

X79 it is then, best not tell the partner how much this is gonna cost lol

will a 3820 be enough for the next couple of years or is the 3930k a more logical choice? but its nearly double the price for 2 more cores :/

good to hear, saves over £200! :D

just something quick off topic, is 27" at 1080p to big for the res? im currently using a 23" and want a larger monitor, but unsure if 27" is too big

i want to stay with 1080p as im looking at 120/44hz monitors

thats what im looking at, £400 is abit steep tho :/ maybe a b-grade would be better (when one pops up of course!)

I have seen info stating that performance exceeds Titan, sometimes "substantially", but I haven't seen anything about likely pricing.

Given that it should outperform Titan you should see a fairly impressive bump in performance over your 6990.
