I am hoping a monitor with this spec will be out soon...

23/24" Wide 1920 x 1080 (1200?) HD Ready (1080p) HDCP

2 x DVI Inputs
1 x HDMI
1 x VGA
1 x Component

Best colour and good response time and no lag. Good internal scaler?

Soon??

I would like to think so , the price might be a little high , you could always buy a LCD TV

Yes I was thinking that but need the resolution for work. I have a PC an Apple G5 and an Xbox360 to plug into the thing.

I don't like VGA on a TFT for PC or Mac, I notice the loss of sharpness as opposed to DVI. The VGA or Component can be for the Xbox360 and the HDMI can be for the PS3 or Sky HD :D

Seriously though I could get a DVI switch with 3 inputs so my spec sheet is only ideal, I can bypass it, but would like Component for video game use (need a good internal scaler)

The Dell 2405 has been on my list for a while but I want to future proof with HDCP. The new Dell 2407 spec doesn't seem to have Component inputs. I like the Sony SDM-234 but again no HDCP or Component.

I will just wait a month for this years models to come onstream

The BenQ FP241W has recently been announced and has pretty much those specs (not sure about double DVI though):

The BenQ FP231W retails at around £800 with pretty standard spec though, so I would be very surprised if this costs any less than £1000

If you don't mind the lack of HDMI, the Samsung 244T (HDCP compliant) may be OK. (I'm definitely getting that or the Gateway FPD2185W, unless the aforementioned BenQ surprise me with their pricing strategy).

Oh, btw for myself I'm thinking HDMI to DVI convertor, VGA for the 360 and component for DVD :p

"The BenQ's FP241W is a 24in monitor with HDMI. It also has DVI-D, DSUB and inputs for composite, component and S-video, so should be compatible with pretty much any video output device. It has a claimed grey-to-grey response time of 8ms and on/off of 12ms. Maximum resolution is said to be 1920x1200, with - HD fans please note - 1080p input supported."

Cheers, the BenQ sounds the one. I did consider the Samsung 244T, however various reviews say the lag is the worst of the lot.

More quotes.....

"Making a similarly barnstorming impression was the FP241W, a 24 incher with 1920 x 1200 native resolution, 8ms grey to grey response time (12ms on/off), 300cd/m2 brightness and super high 1000:1 contrast ratio. There’s full pivot and height adjustment, PIP technology and the same extensive range of connectivity as the FP301W and full 1080P input support.

BenQ tells me it expects the FP241W to appear around May/June for around 1,000 euros."

Guess I am waiting until May/June :D

Is that the Cnet review? Frankly I just discounted that one as they seemed almost stupidly DELL-biased. What other reviews have you managed to find for the monitor, as I also need to find the perfect monitor for my needs ;)

Either way you'd need a 1920x1200 display for 1080i, so it may as well handle 1080p.

Wow, 1000 euros (£690) for the BenQ....that's another spanner in the works

It's interesting that he wrote all that while in the toilet :p

Can Xbox360 output in 1080p, because if not then why would anyone buy a 1080p TV.

The PS3 should be able to do 1080p, as its also a Blu-Ray player and both new HD formats should be in 1080p. Whether or not games will make use of 1080p remains to be seen.
