I want my VM to use my hosts VPN connection

And I can't!

Tried Virtualbox (doesn't list the adapter as a choice)
Tried Virtual PC (seriously, WTF)
Tried VMWare Workstation (as virtualbox).

I can't bridge the connections on the host so how, if possible, how does one achieve said task?

No idea as I've never tried to do this but have you tried pinging a device on the other side of the VPN.

What VPN client are you using? I would have thought that if you used the NAT option within VMWare Workstation that could work. You may need to make sure that the desktop firewall on the host isnt preventing this traffic.
