i want to blow up this pic...help

is this any use to ya??? it's about the best that can be hoped for I think:

or were you thinking of something different?

Heres a quick 5 min attempt at your picture.
I used the curves tool and changed the exposure with a little tweeking with the highlight tool also. All in CS2
Finaly ran it through noiseware.

Not the best at photoshop as the rest of the guys on here but i hope it helps :)

That's awesome mate.

If there is ANYTHING you could do to further imporve it I'd be really really grateful. Its for my mates bday, its the view from his old flat that he loved.

When you say blow up, do you wanted it printed at a large-ish size?

If so, do you not have it any bigger than 1600x1200 to start with?

rossyl... you need to consider what size you are blowing it up to - and what quality you want...

No offense to the other two chaps who have made great pics, but if you blow those up they will look terrible... They have a large amount of noise - especially in the sky where noise ware has operated! I don't think these pics will look very good blown up (again size matters!)

That's why, with my one i stated it's abou the best you can hope for! You can't make it any brighter than what I did without having visible noise that will look really carp at big sizes!

hey guys thank you all for the help.

Can I take your advice?

I want to enlarge the pic to A4 size. Will that picture look rubbish at that size? I'm thinking of using photobox to do it as i hear they are reasonably good.

The photo is of Erfurt in germany.

thanks again.

I thought it looked German, nice view he had.
1600x1200 is 56cm x 42cm so, someone correct me if I'm wrong here, it shouldn't need any blowing up

It won't look great at anything above 6x4" as that is 300DPI. You could probably get away ok with up to 8x6" as thats 200DPI which is usually ok. But there is a lot of noise, so 6x4" would be better...

yeh that should be fine for A4 size i think... but looking at those two "brighter" pics again the noise is quite noticeable :( It's mainly just the sky, I reckon it could be taken care of though... let me try again....

here's another 2 just so you have some choice! I'm still not sure what those 2 bright ones will look like blown up - the sky might look duff, but if the blow ups are quite cheap (they usually are in my experience) then you could maybe get a couple done to see which come out best?

Anywayhere's a second try from me and a cropped version:

at 72DPI maybe, but 72DPI will look horrific printed, you want to be at 300DPI ideally :(

ok considering the dpi this now limits your choices - the 2 "bright" photos posted will look terrible printed with all that noise!

My take on howell80's version of this - USM on the main building, and used a gaussian blur selectively on the sky to reduce noise. Only the foreground, and a little of the noise on the building to sort out now...
