You know that urge you sometimes get to buy something new when you don't actually REALLY need anything?

That's me right now.

Looking more at peripherals, but I like my Gigabyte Osmium keyboard and my Deathadder, even though I have a soft spot for M&K's, but there really is no need for replacing those.

I keep looking at headsets because I really don't like the way my Plantronic 780's look, and I'm not a massive fan of the velvet earcups, I prefer the leatherette type. But the 780's work just fine.

Either way I've been looking at the Hyperx Cloud II's, heard lots of good things about them. Just wondering if anyone know's if they will offer a better audio experience than my 780's? I'm pretty sure I'll find them more comfortable :)

I'm one of those fancy pants soundcard + headphones (HD598) + modmic people who like to snuff their noses at "gaming headsets"

However I bought the Cloud II's because of all the hype and great reviews.

And they were amazing. Absolutely worth the money and a whole lot more. They sounded really great, the mic was superb (better than my modmic) and were perfectly comfortable. Choice of earcups was a bonus.

it comes with a USB soundcard was better than my Z77 Sabertooth onboard and on par with the Xonar Xense and thankfully the 7.1 is completely optional (mine remained firmly off).

I've never used the 780s but I would guess that the Cloud II's would be much better.

I have a pair of HyperX Cloud IIs too - it is a lot less hassle than some other headsets as there is no special software for it. The thing I like the most is the solid aluminium structure it's built on. It's a lot more functional in form, rather than flashing around it's 'gaming' branding. Can definitely recommend.

I've got a HyperX Cloud II as well. I use it for recording YouTube videos and for Twitch streaming so microphone quality is important for me. So far no complaints at all. I use them all the time now and they are one of the most comfortable headsets / headphones I've ever tried as well. Plus I got them £30 off. Bonus!
