I have 16GB of the following Corsair Vengeance and I want something a little faster.

DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9), 9-10-9-27 Timings.

Had this ram for a quite a while now and have the upgrade urge. :)

What's good at the moment?

I have Avexir Blitz 2133, can't complain about the performance and it looks great.
Before that I had Avexir Core and it was great as well.
Also considering RMA goes to OCuk (as only distributor in UK), I would prefer Avexir over any other ram.

SB 1600-1888mhz is enough, newer CPU's the Mem Controller can do more with faster Ram but unless you use certain apps your not going to see it.

For 4770k I would say 2400mhz is sweet spot but look at timings after 2100mhz they are slackish.

Gaming etc, waste of time.

Those are pretty tight c9 1866mhz rams sticks you've got. Tried running them at 2133mhz ? Sure they would be enough. Bet you'd get a pretty sweet tight 2133 :D :D

Did the same with previous 1866mhz geil memory. Performed superbly at 2133.

I am clueless with overclocking memory though. :D

Well , its not that hard but i can understand why many do not want to do it. :)

As an alternative , you could sell your current memory, and price/performance wise these are good : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-052-TG&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1387

Though the Xtreeme LV Snips86x posted earlier are better in general. ;)

TeamGroup are top notch!!

If RAM clearance isnt an issue, these are highly recommended.

However I do want 16GB. Am I better off getting 4 x 4GB or 2 x 8GB sticks?

Edit: But then again do I really need 16GB. I cant remember ever being close to ever using it all.

It depends on money really, if you can afford it then why not. 16gb for normal PC usage makes no difference , only when using program's such as Photoshop that actually take advantage of the extra memory. The only thing your doing is getting more so it's enough to last a few builds and could portray as "futureproof" , then again ddr4 is around the next corner. But in all honesty 8gb is plenty. I went from 16gb back to 8gb just faster and it's improved my overall performance.

Excellent. I think I will stick with 8GB for now then.

I think I have found the ram I want: -

G.Skill TridentX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit
CAS 10-12-12-31

Can you not think of other hardware you need as that Ram will make next to no difference to your PC usage?

Well I want to overclock it a bit and its best to have two slots filled rather than four (so I am told)

Surely I'll get better benchmark scores with this ram too, wont I ? ;)

That is a Myth about the slots and been heaing it since 2001 when 4 slot DDR Mobos appeared at for 1st time (was SDRAM before that).

Yes your E-Peen will be bigger if you bench all day like a sad git but games 1FPS if your lucky.

Do you do any rendering etc?
