i want to install a recycle bin on my external hard drive

as title, is there a programe that does this?
the reason being: if i delete a data file from my 500gig external hard drive it then goes to the windows (vista 32bit SP2) recycle bin.
i dont want any trace of work data files on my computer.

i just did a shift and delete on a file on my external hard drive and its gone.
can you confirm this has not passed onto my computers C/ hard drive before deleting?

Shift+Del erases the file directly instead of moving it to the recycle bin... bit of a bad habit really tho heh.

Right click recycle bin > Properties. Then disable recycle bin for whatever drive you want. You wont need to "Shift+Delete" then.

The recycle bin will always be on the drive you're using anyway, including external drives. So, if you delete a file from your external drive, it goes to the recycle bin on that drive, not on the PC.

Don't get in the habit of using shift>delete all the time, can have bad consequences sometimes! The amount of times I have used shift>delete and then realised I selected the wrong group of things is way too high!

This is a fairly good point. It doesn't move anything, it only shows it there. Come on deleting is far too fast for it to be really moving the files. Even when you shift + delete nothing is wiped or moved, the sectors are just marked as empty and can be overwritten.

This reads like the OP thinks when he deletes a porn file from his external drive that it is copied to the C: drives recycle bin on his desktop.

It doesn't work like that OP. The file is placed in a bin on the external drive, it isn't moved anywhere.
