I want to personalise Vista

I want to change the background on that startup screen (the crazy green/blue one).
The sounds (I used to use Mac sounds on my last machine).
I want to make desktop icons smaller.
I want that nice alt-tab effect with the windows scrolling

Any answers?

Hold down the control key and scroll your mouse wheel to increase/decrease the icon size.

If you have .wav files for all the sounds you want, you can choose the sounds you want by right clicking the speaker next to the clock and clicking sounds. Then finding them all.

for the third one, click the desktop then hold ctrl and roll your mouse wheel.

Do you mean the 3d effect? Needs to be home premium minimum (For Aero), and the keypress is <Windows key>+<tab>.

From what I've seen on google you can't do the XP reg edit you used to be able to do, but you can get Logon Studio by Stardock that allows you to change the picture easily.

I haven't tried it yet as your thread only just reminded me I wanted to change the picture.
