Ive been building computers for years but have always been afraid to build a custom loop incase it leaks, also all the different fittings makes my head hurt. Ive been using AIO's for years now and think its time i finally built my own loop so im looking for some help, chances are i will be a pain needing help but i know this is the place to find the best people to help.

Im only thinking of just the CPU to start but id like the capacity to include a GPU and be able to upgrade my board and CPU without any problems. at the minute i have but am planning on upgrading later this year.

i5 4690k
Asus Z97 ranger
Palit jetstream 970

So can someone help me with this.

Thanks

Will need to know a few things first m8

What is your current case?
Do you have a budget in mind?
What is your goal for a custom loop, silence, aesthetics or just lower temps in general?(Or all 3 :D )

Id like silence, aesthetics and to keep it fairly cool. A budget of around £150

My case

I also have 3x120mm

my current AIO has 2 corsair Performance Edition High Static Pressure Fans so i could probably use these fans for my loop as they are very good as you probably know

Very tight budget for a custom loop,if buying all new you would have to skimp somewhere, which means going for a lower end pump.Is their any movement on the budget?

Heres a starting point, the only thing missing here to get up and running is a pump/res.Having a 360mm rad would allow for you at a later date to add a gpu to the loop and still be ok for heat dissaption(More rad space is always good, but for an I5 and a single gpu its adaquete) plus you can always add a 2nd rad when you add your GPU anyways.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £114.80
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Ideally for a quiet system you want a d5 pump/res,sadlythese start at about £100 so would take you largely over budget.Currently their are some bargin D5 pump/res combos in the b-grade section that may be worth considering as the savings are really good on them, and the d5 is the best WC pump overall, they are a fantastic investment.

I purchased a ocuk tech lads 240mm value kit for my first loop @£120 inc. pump is a little noisy but works very well. I may get a D5 pump as porting to a new corsair air 540 case this weekend hopefully.

Go second hand for any non-mechanical bits. Fit new o-rings if getting second hand barbs and you're onto a winner.

For reference most of mine was second hand and it cost me:

Laing ddc/xspc res top £45
Ek supremacy mx new £36
Ek xtx 120mm rad £10
Xspc piping £7 think it was for 3m
Swiftech 240mm rad £15
1/2" barbs £1.50 each
Graphics card: 7970 with ek waterblock already attached £65 from.members market.

REALLY good loop for a fraction of the cost.
