I'm getting a bit bored of futuristic shooters (so i won't be getting the new cod) i want a new ww2 fps :( pc and last gen had loads of good ww2 games but then everything went to futuristic stuff ,a break is good but now we need a break from all this future stuff hell id even take a vietnam game :D anyone else ?

Vietnam theme gets my vote, used to love the old PC game, also a COD MW remake would be nice, open up the levels a bit giving the player more freedom to get from point A to point B

People said the same about WW2 shooters years ago. Why play the same games which tell the same history stories.

Till this day there are still more WW2 shooters than futuristic shooters.

I watched Saving Private Ryan the other day and it got me thinking about the last WW2 shooter I played. I cant actually remember! lol. They were totally overdone at one point and then seemingly dropped out of fashion overnight.

Medal of Honor: Airborne was a pretty good game. Shame they went and killed the series with the awful Modern Warfare clones that followed.

The first 3 cods were amazing! World at war was great too! Then the Vietnam expansion for BC2 was also amazing fun. Would love to see the return of an older shooter.

the omaha beach landing on allied assault was one of my fave gaming moments i can only dream how good and intense that would be on todays hardware

world at war was one of my favourite cods who can forget the sound of a bouncing betty :D

I'd rather see some new territory covered tbh, not exactly a shortage of conflicts. WWII, Middle East, Cold War, 'future' have all been done to death.

A Vietnam era game on the latest frostbite would look literally lush. WWI with the old Mark V tanks, biplanes and stuff. Korea? Indochina wars? Plenty of relatively untouched settings.

This

The pacific war with the US and Japanese got very little coverage in video games. Battlefield 1942 covered it, but no real big budget game has covered it since.

Likewise North Africa.

Can you imagine BF1942's el alamein in modern battlefield, likewise Gazala and Guadal Canal ?

True some decent pacific theatre stuff could be great. I always preferred the WWII era battlefield games, prop-driven aircraft just work so much better in that kind of game.

But the European theater is more fun imo than the far east. Both sides have enough advanced weaponry in relative terms to make it exciting plus you have two fronts for variation.

Yeah but those theatres have been done to death. Hell I'd be all over a fictional invasion of the continental USA scenario, some great opportunities for different landscapes.
