My 6950 died and I was happy with it before it died. Now I'm going to do a large build in November and I'll have about 1400 quid. So I'm looking at a card to tide me over until then. I only game at 1920 x 1080p until I do my major build. I have a choice. Getting a R290x and adding that to my new build or getting something cheaper like a 280x.
Decisions, decisions.
 
Chuck a 7950 in it for the time being you can get them for about £100 now. It'll be perfect for that res and you wont have splashed a few more hundred quid on something that come build time may be surplus to requirments.
 
Yeah I was thinking that too. I might just sell my Xbox One I hardly use the thing. I went to the console side as I was skint from paying bills and rent etc, so I couldn't afford to upgrade. Now I have cash in my pocket again I can afford a good PC and I'm off work for five weeks in November. Dave I had a Hanns G monitor that was dying, I thought it was the caps in there which it was. It was a combination of both the graphics card and the monitor. I even bought an Aerocool to slap on it, but no joy. Just loads of green lines down the screen and then black. I got a new monitor and it was the same with the 6950. I thought of getting it reballed, but sod it, I'll buy a new card.

But he will have wasted because come his build he'll want a 290x so buy that now;)
 
Seriously a 290x at £269.99 and you are wondering what do do !

Buy a 290x now put up with the reference cooler till Nov then water cool it with your new build.

I could throw it in my reflow oven. It may or may not fix it!.
 
Yup he was right. Plus it's a good looking card. I've always been anti window cases. But with the Corsair Carbide 540 (white) I might start getting into it. Never seen the point personally, I mean you wouldn't have a glass bonnet on your car lol.
