Hi noobs

Well my wifes trusty i10 has been towed to dealer. Here is a youtube video of the sound from engine bay. The sound is metallic and is present when car is stationary. It speeds up with revs and matches RPM, it gets much worse when engine hot / under load.

I will post back the cause once known... anyway, guess away.

My guess (as a complete mechanical idiot), fuel injector fault giving wrong mixture

Sounds like big end bearing failure to me.

Isn't this the infamous used i10 that was more expensive than a new one?

I reckon something top end, broken VVT thingy or lifter maybe. Sounds a bit high pitch for a bottom end knock, and they tend to come and go through the rev range too.

Sounds just like a tinny recording of bottom end knock to me, bearing in mind it was probably recorded on a phone, a device not known for a microphone with a particularly wide frequency range :p
