Saw this advertised today on a BF2 server and checked it out, there are some nice prizes up for grabs for winning clans at this event, I was just wondering if anyone from here is going, I'm considering it providing I can book some time off work.

Has anyone been to previous "i" events, are they much good or full of hyper kids eating 20 bags of crisps and devouring a crate of coke by the hour

I was going to go to one last year, but due to personal commitments I had to pull out, I would like to go to one still, when' it on?

I haven't been for a while due to various things, but the whole event is great fun when i've been.
The network is normally extremely good, and most of the people who go are pretty good with very few kids (and those that do go tend to be well behaved).

It's especially good if you go as part of a clan, or forum group, my younger brothers clan have been going en masse (anything up to 30 people*) for 3-4 years and make a habit out of going bowling together and setting one evening aside for things like war gaming these days.

One thing I will say, is that it can get very noisy, especially if you get clan matches between teams who know each other well and are having fun (and start calling out to each other and taking the mickey when they do something silly).

*Normally about 6-12 core members + friends/part timers

I havent been for a few years now but i have been to quite a few events - after all they are in my home town ;)

The "hyper kids" would be the ones downstairs, in the CS section. Assuming theyre still doing it in the same stand and its still a a ~1k person event. If you want to be a bit more chilled out, put your name down in another game section.

By the last couple of events i visited, they were really doing a good job of giving people other things to do besides sit at their computers. The bar is either on its own floor or outside in another building, and you're not allowed to sleep at your computer. (Tip: Bring a tent!)

It's definately a great experience if you're into lanning. Well worth it, although the price is pretty steep nowadays.

Is on from the 14th till the 17th of April, google it for more info, not sure if I can post the link here or not so I won't attempt it.

I'll be going, i missed i26 but i really enjoyed i25 so it should be a laugh. Most of the people that i saw seemed to be mature enough (no l33t kiddies) and i would recommend going if only for the experience.

Im there for it (was there for i20, i21, i22, and i26). Should be a laugh, although if our clan dont get their tactics sorted for some of our weaker maps, we will get owned in the COD2 tourney :(

Generally NOT filled with kids either, oh, and you HAVE to enter the "boat race" ;)

Room for 2? :p

Yeah, you can just go down with your PC and play in the 1v1 tournaments, or simply just play one of the literally hundreds of games that are just being played "for fun".

Being in a clan just makes it easier to play in the team-based tournaments!

EDIT: I would advise going down with a group of people you know however, as this would ensure that a) your sat next to people you know!, and b) you can always just think up a clan name on the spot and sign up for tourneys!

ill be going and competiting in the CSS tourny, will be my first big lan :) (unless certain things happen before hand that im not aloud to mention yet) looking forward to it a lot, bootcamping with my team at the beginning or march and probably again before the lan in april

hope to see you all there :) maybe we can have an ocuker lan go'ers meeting lol

The last one i went to was i8. Had a great time though and had a really good atmosthere. It was before they had internet access and it did get a bit draining playing games for 4 days solid.
